StitchCraft is an independent cross stitch app made by Patrick van der Ploeg in the Netherlands. This is its official website, with the app's guides and free browser tools.
A photo, a chart, and your next project
StitchCraft converts a photo into a cross stitch chart on your iPhone or iPad. You can also draw a pattern from a blank canvas, edit individual stitches, and mark your progress as you sew. The app uses a library of 523 DMC thread colors: 487 Stranded Cotton and 36 Light Effects.
The app runs on iOS 18.6 or later. The free version allows up to three patterns per day, up to 80 stitches wide and 20 colors. StitchCraft Premium adds larger patterns up to 200 × 200 stitches, advanced editing options, PDF charts, and shopping lists. Photo conversion and project storage happen on your device. You do not need an account or an internet connection to make and track patterns. Read the privacy policy for details about local storage and email contact.
About the developer
Patrick van der Ploeg develops StitchCraft and publishes this website. You can find his other apps at Vejo Apps. App instructions on this site describe StitchCraft's own features; the guides also explain practical steps such as choosing a grid size, reducing scattered stitches, and reading a symbol chart.
StitchCraft is not affiliated with DMC or Apple. DMC codes identify the threads used in a chart. On-screen colors are approximations, so compare real thread under your working light when an exact match matters.
Free tools for planning a project
You can use these tools in your browser without installing the app:
- Cross stitch calculator: calculate stitched dimensions, fabric cut size, and estimated floss quantities.
- DMC color matcher: compare thread colors or find a close match for a hex or RGB value.
- Cross stitch font generator: turn lettering into a chart and download a PNG.
- DMC color chart: browse the thread library by code or color name.
The full photo converter and pattern editor are in the iPhone and iPad app. StitchCraft's progress tracker works with patterns made in the app; it does not import third-party PDF charts.

For an app problem, include your device model, iOS version, app version, and the steps that led to it. Projects are stored on your device, so the developer cannot access or recover them remotely.
